A Zurich Tram for San Francisco!
A special ceremony took place on Saturday, 4 June 2005, when Zurich Mayor Elmar Ledergerber and San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom, inaugurated the Zurich Tram in San Francisco. Among those present were the Co-Chairman of the San Francisco-Zurich Initiative J. Richard Fredericks, former US Ambassador to Switzerland, and Walter Anderau, Chairman of the Swiss Re Centre for Global Dialogue.

World Environment Day in San Francisco
San Francisco suddenly became the focus of global environmental awareness and protection when it hosted World Environment Day. From June 1-5 leading figures from the worlds of business, academia and politics assembled in San Francisco to discuss the challenges of articulating an environmental policy for the future. This year's World Environment Day was held under the banner of "Green Cities" and was therefore especially targeted at the political representatives of a number of cities and countries.

It's that time of the year again - Swiss students from Kantonsschule Enge in Zurich are going to arrive in the Bay Area this Saturday for a three weeks stay with their host families.
